What do we see with the 2 hour Golden Bay Sunset Ride?

The Golden Bay sunset ride is one of my favorite leisure activities in Malta. It's simply a magical feeling sitting on a sweet horse, slowly riding around the quiet, peaceful and beautiful countryside while watching the sun set.

The sunset ride starts at 17:00 in summer and as we arrived we were assigned a horse depending on our previous horse riding experiences. Golden Bay horse riding is amedium sized, well-kept stable run by a very friendly local family. As we left the stables we rode past Golden Bay from the back and into the old abandoned British Army buildings which were very interesting to see. After that we headed straight to Maltese countryside.

We rode on small dirt paths and saw the typical Maltese vegetation and fields all around us and the clear blue sea to our left. After about 1 hour we arrived to Popeye Village which was simply amazing in the light of the sunset. All the colors of the houses and the green sea simply lit up. After admiring this fantastic view for a couple of minutes, allowing for photos, we continued now on the way back - roughly another hour of of riding.

The whole area would have been difficult to explore in any other way in the summer heat, as it's only accessible by foot. The only less positive thing I can say about the sunset ride is that as the terrain is very rugged and rocky so there's not much room for going fast. It is more about taking in the scenery, which makes it perfect for novice riders — like myself.

Go Karting

I went Go Karting with a group of friends this summer and we organized a tournament. This was my first time ever trying Go Karting in Malta and it was a lot more fun than I thought it would be. The Go Karts also go a lot faster than I thought they would be and not surprisingly I was the last one to finish.

It took me a turn or two getting used to the track and maneuvering the car, but after that it was a blast. I just press the gas and go! The great thing about Go Karting is that there are plenty of turns around the race course allowing you to catch up on the others.

The race course is very safe and the staff quickly comes to your aid when you are stuck or facing the wrong way :) They have several different packages to choose from and when we wanted to go for another round after our initial one was up, it was no problem at all. The staff was very accommodating.

Bad point - it's not fun being left behind!

Zest Restaurant in St. Julian's

Zest is my absolute favorite restaurant in Malta! I come here on special occasions because everything about this venue is always impeccable, from the service to the food and the décor. The last time I went to Zest was for my birthday and we were greeted by a friendly head waiter who showed us to our table.

We were handed the menus and as usual, we were facing the question of what to choose from this extensive selection of deliciousness? My all time favorite dish is the Beef Teppanyaki. It's always cooked to perfection and simply melts in your mouth.

This time however, I opted for their new dish SHABU SHABU which is a healthy and fun option. It's basically a pot filled with boiling broth and vegetables with either raw beef , fish or prawns, and noodles served on the side that you have to cook by yourself in the broth. I like beef, my boyfriend likes fish so we took the combo option and got both beef, fish and prawns. It was very tasty and a fun way to share the meal.

We were too full to have a large order of dessert (I recommend the Bento Box if you are a chocoholic like me) and instead we only had the smaller sweets they give all their clients at the end of their meal. So remember, there is always something extra when dining at Zest.

By the way, Zest has a very nice sushi bar that welcome guests to sit around the chef and observe his skills preparing, what I must say is, beautiful sushi. The only bad thing about Zest is that it is a bit expensive.

A dinner at Zest is the perfect gift for any food lover and the menu has something for everyone. If you are coming on a holiday, don't miss dining at Zest!
